Elegant Lashes #001 Black False Eyelash Review (Red Cherry Ain’t Got Nothin’ on These!)

Say hello the one of the most popular styles in our humongous collection – the #001 Black Human Hair False Eyelash!

Shyne Sunny wearing Elegant Lashes #001 Black Human Hair false eyelashes

This is one of those classic shapes that everyone loves and everyone wants to get a hold of.

Unfortunately for me, it took forever for my tiny little eyes to work their way up to the point where they actually looked good wearing the #001 Blacks (I wore #001 Browns when I felt daring because it was simply too much for me to wear #001 Black). Thankfully, that’s changed. Whoo!

Elegant Lashes #001 Black Human Hair False Eyelashes

The #001 Black lashes are part of our Medium Density-Short category, but at this point we all know that what Elegant Lashes calls “short” is not exactly short by other people’s standards. Still, I have an affinity for spiky lashes and I want to be cool like everyone else rocking the #001’s (in Black), so I worked my way up there.  =)

The Elegant Lashes® #001 Black false eyelashes provide just the right amount of flirty volume – not too sparse and not so thick as to make your lids look and feel heavy. This is a beautiful glamorous length, the thin, wispy spikes are pure precision and perfection, and the 100% Natural Human Hairs are so, so soft and luscious.

I had to work extra hard to do these lashes justice by taking cool photos. I think I did all right, so here’s another shot:

Do you not see how perfectly and beautifully separated these lashes are?!!? They are so glamorous and befitting for an elegant evening look. (Granted I’m not wearing elegant evening attire in the photos, but that is beside the point.)

And because people love before & after photos, here’s our first-ever false eyelash before & after photo, featuring the amazing #001 Black false eyelashes from Elegant Lashes:

Call me biased, but I think this photo is irrefutable evidence that falsies give the eyes 1,000,000x more appeal and opens them up like no other makeup can. Even with no eye shadow on the upper lid, the #001 Black false lashes make my eyes appear instantly more open and alluring. And that shape, with those flirty spikes… pure perfection.

Red Cherry what??

If you think the #001 Black lashes look familiar, it’s probably because you’ve either seen or used Red Cherry’s version, which is called Red Cherry #1. Here, take a gander and compare the similarities:

Elegant Lashes #001 vs. Red Cherry #1 lashes comparison dupe
Red Cherry images from kkcenterhk.com and buyeyelashes.co.uk

The Elegant Lashes #001’s and Red Cherry #1’s have similar names, look identical in shape, and both are made of 100% Human Hair, but one is far superior than the other. (See photo for the winner.)

So what’s the difference?

One word: QUALITY.

Quality makes a HUGE difference in the look and longevity of false lashes, and I’m not just talking about material.

Red Cherry lashes are made of 100% Human Hair (the best material), but there is always a consistent look of haphazardness that just… annoys the !@#$% out of me every time I see a pair of them.

What’s worse is that despite how long Red Cherry has been making lashes out of human hair, the craftsmanship never seems to improve, so the lashes look sub-par. Which means the people who wear them look… well, not sub-par … but they’d be a lot happier (and yes, look better) if they used better quality lashes.

Now THIS is what I call a beautifully made, high-quality lash.

Let me put it this way:

If I paid you for professional makeup services and if you came at me with a pair of Red Cherry lashes, I would be sad. Most people may not know the difference, but I grew up thinking the precision and quality of Elegant Lashes was the norm, so I can tell right away when something is of lower quality. And to be completely honest, with Red Cherry lashes, the difference in quality is blatantly obvious.

In conclusion…

The Elegant Lashes #001 Black is an awesome, bomb-diggity style that is kind of essential for those evenings when you want/need to look glamorous. And the quality will blow you away.

The Ultra-Wispy Barely-There #082A Black False Eyelash

shyne sunny natural looking human hair false eyelashes

What’s that in my hand?

It’s the thinnest, lightest (density) Human Hair false eyelash of our 500-style selection.

What exactly is the purpose of a pair of false eyelashes that are so light and wispy that they don’t add any noticeable amount of volume to your lashes?

Beats me. Those were my thoughts every time I saw the 082A lashes. Just look at this eyelash:

Elegant Lashes 082A Black Human Hair False Eyelash

There’s practically nothing there!

The Doubts:

The Elegant Lashes® #082A Black False Eyelash is super light-density, the hairs are thin almost to the point of being anorexic, and it looks like it’s only good for adding length, not volume. In my eyes, it’s not much of a stud, but maybe that’s because I’m partial to volume.

Although #082 and #082A are both very popular styles (especially for brides and natural looks) I stayed away from it because:

a)      The length seems way too long for me. (I feel uncomfortable and self-conscious with too-long lashes.)

b)      Like I said, I covet volume more than length, and from the looks of it, the #082A lash isn’t going to give me much volume.

However, I must say the #082A lash has its merits…

The Good:

elegant lashes 82a natural looking false eyelashes

False lashes with chromosome-shaped (?) knots are actually more natural-looking than the traditional knotted bands. In fact, they are virtually undetectable. So the #082A lash will definitely work for the I’m-not-wearing-fake-lashes effect. Case in point:

super natural real looking falsee eyelashes

Yeah, you know you’re impressed. It looks like I got some mad skilled aesthetician to do eyelash extensions on me, because those hairs look like they’re sprouting straight from my eyelids, not something I plucked off of a plastic tray and stuck onto my eyes.

Length:

Although this is in our Light-Short category, it looks pretty long to me in the packaging. (Maybe not to you, but for my tiny little stubby lashes, the #082A lashes are long.)

Elegant Lashes human hair false eyelashes in packagingI must be getting better at wearing bigger and longer falsies, though. Nothing else explains how I’m able to pull off a lash of this length and not look ridiculous.

I thought for sure the #082A lashes would be way too long, but I wore them for the first time to a trade show with very minimal makeup, and they looked pretty great.

Side view of lashes. Neat, right? It’s not too curled, and the hairs (100% Natural Human Hair, of course) are also very soft and pliable. So is the band, which allows for easy application to any eye shape.

What did I say about natural-looking length? These fake eyelashes don’t look so fake, now, do they?

Somehow the #082A lash enhances the eyes despite a serious lack in density/volume. (Whaaat? How?) In addition, for some reason, the length doesn’t look unrealistically long when worn, and because the hairs are so few and far between, they look like my actual, real lashes (but better, of course). Funny how things work out that way.

The #082A eyelash isn’t so pointless after all…

Here’s a photo submitted by pro makeup artist Thi Liu of a bride wearing #082A Black False Eyelashes on her wedding day. =)

Wedding bridal makeup, natural looking human hair false eyelashes

Like I said, #082 and #082A lashes are popular for bridal makeup, but I’ve only very recently started to understand why makeup artists would choose to apply the super light-looking #082A lashes on a bride. It just looks believable…

By the way….

If you like the general shape of the #082A False Eyelashes but want more volume, check out this lash dupe post on its more va-va-voom twin, the #082 Black False Eyelash. You’ll be surprised to know that the Elegant Lashes #082 Black False Eyelash is almost an EXACT dupe for Ardell 105 lashes. I’m not kidding you – the similarities are uncanny. And I’ve got the photos to prove it.

Concluding thoughts:

The length is nothing to be intimidated by, and the lack of volume is not something to scoff at.

Despite looking too long in the packaging, the #082A False Eyelash is quite a wearable and believable length, and I don’t miss the volume a bit. I’ll give credit where credit is due: the thing that most surprised me about this lash it that is looks so dang real when worn. (Again, look at the photo of the lashes with my eye closed. That’s scary real-looking.)

Trying to look cool/artsy with the eyelash. I tried hard.

Final verdict:
The #082A Black False Eyelash is not pointless. It’s perfect.

You don’t need to spend tons of money to get great quality lashes, and you definitely don’t need to settle for those disgusting 10-lashes-in-a-box-for-just-a-dollar lashes, either. (I absolutely HATE those things. Hate ‘em with a passion. Why they sell that junk for human use is beyond me. Those things are made for department store mannequins, dang it!)

The Truth about MAC 1 Lashes

mac 1 lash dupe elegant lashes 066 black false eyelash

Let’s face it: MAC lashes are expensive. They’re beautiful, great quality, and last a long time, but at $16 a pop, they’re expensive. If you’re a pro makeup artist with lots of clients or just an avid false eyelash user, buying MAC lashes all the time just plain doesn’t make sense (or cents. Ha!). And yet, people keep buying and justifying these unnecessary splurges because they just don’t know what I know. And wouldn’t you like to know what I know…. >=)

Thankfully, my kind little heart has decided to share with you all another little insider secret that none of the big companies want you to know:

MAC has been ripping you off.

Let’s say I put my excellent, savings-savvy little brain to work and found an affordable alternative to those beautiful yet expensive MAC lashes you love. And let’s say that this supposed lash dupe wasn’t just another look-alike wannabe, but the ACTUAL, real thing. Let’s say the MAC 1 Lash had an IDENTICAL twin. Well, guess what?

It does.

Now, let’s compare the above false eyelashes with the MAC 1 Lash: mac 1 lash elegant lashes #066 black false eyelashes

… Do you notice any similarities?

Let me help you out: It’s the same darn lash! Exact. Same. Darn. Lash.

How? Why? Because MAC actually uses the exact same manufacturer as Elegant Lashes®.

*insert dramatic pause*

Yeah, that’s right. MAC sells one pair of these lashes for $16 while Elegant Lashes® sells the EXACT SAME MODEL for a whopping 86% less! Ouch. Looks like you’ve been paying a little too much for those MAC lashes, huh?

bodicerippers-shauni.blogspot.com

Now, stop facepalming yourself. I know, I know, it is pretty depressing to think about how you spent $16 dollars on just one eyelash when you could have gotten 9 of the exact same pair for around $20. I know it didn’t help that I actually pointed out that fact just now, either. But cheer up – at least now you know where to get designer-quality lashes at awesome pro discounts! (Hint: www.FalseEyelashesSite.com). Hooray! ^O^

How to Get Thick, Full Lashes Like Miss Piggy

So the Muppets are all over the media again due to the recent DVD release of their movie, The Muppets, and their monumental achievement of getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. They subsequently happened to be on the cover of a subscription that I receive:

I couldn’t help but notice how thick and full Miss Piggy’s lashes were. Of course, MAC released a special-edition Miss Piggy collection to commemorate her return to the big screen when the film came out, but unfortunately many people were underwhelmed by the tiny 3-piece set.

Le tiny 3-piece set.

And let me just say… those MAC 36 false lashes that were in the Miss Piggy collection? Those are Elegant Lashes #704, which I just reviewed in the last post, and while they are indeed beautiful, you KNOW those falsies aren’t gonna give you the super-diva look of Miss Piggy’s luscious lashes!!!

Miss Piggy’s lashes are super-ultra-mega-crazy-dense, and they flare out at the ends while keeping a mostly straight shape. So if you REALLY want to rock thick, divalicious lashes like Miss Piggy, here are my suggestions for you to try:

Elegant Lashes #696 Black False Eyelash:thick volumizing short black false eyelashes for cat eye look

Previously reviewed here, Elegant Lashes #696 False Eyelash is nearly identical in shape to Miss Piggy’s eyelashes, but are much shorter in length – ideal for girls who want dramatic volume, but don’t want drastic length.

Elegant Lashes #535 Black False Eyelash:

A classic favorite, these cat-eye falsies are a little longer than the #696 lashes and are another great contender for achieving the lusciously thick flared lash look that is Miss Piggy’s signature style.

Elegant Lashes #079 Black False Eyelash:

Previously reviewed in brown, the #079 false lash gives plenty of volume to achieve that perfectly plush Miss Piggy look.

Elegant Lashes #203 Black False Eyelash:thick long dark black false eyelashes

I think a pair (or maybe even two!) of these thick false lashes will give you the look Miss Piggy is rocking.

Elegant Lashes #102 Black False Eyelash:This thick, long false eyelash is for super divas, like Miss Piggy! It’s the perfect shape and density to achieve that glamorous Miss Piggy look! Hahaha!

Ok, I honestly think Miss Piggy uses TWO pairs of falsies to get that glamorous, voluminous look, so maybe we should all do the same if we really want to get lashes like hers. She is certainly pushing the boundaries of makeup! I don’t see too many people (or pigs!) wearing two pairs of false lashes in their makeup look (although I do like layering falsies, myself. :))
